Erie Islands Powerboating School is the first and only BoatUS sanctioned On-Water training facility on Lake Erie and across the Great Lakes. With our history and experience as a sailing school for over 14 years we saw the need for greater accessibility of on-water training.
New and existing boat owners can now get hands on training to assist with docking, close quarter maneuvering, and general boat operation skills from beginner to advanced. Start with our (4) NSBC modules to lay the groundwork then move into our more advanced courses with American Boating.

Erie Islands Powerboating School is dedicated to promoting safe on-water powerboating education through a series of standards developed by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) or by American Boating.
In addition to certification classes, we also offer private lessons, new boat owner orientation, boat deliveries, and boat moves.
All Instructors with Erie Islands Powerboating School hold US Coast Guard Captain’s licenses and are certified instructors with NSBC and American Boating.
